Indiana is Open for Business: September's Jobs and Wages Wins
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 1, 2026) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun concluded another month of significant jobs and wages wins for the state today. In September, the governor announced new investments across advanced manufacturing, agbioscience and defense that are set to create 570 new, high-wage jobs for Hoosiers.
Additionally, in September, Gov. Braun highlighted the economic impact of the state’s creative economy, which employs 96,000 Hoosiers, and Indiana’s long-time partnership with Japan, which now supports approximately 62,000 Hoosier jobs. The governor also discussed the importance of regional collaboration and long-term economic, community and talent development strategies in Jeffersonville and Muncie.

Defense Contractor GovParts Announces Fort Wayne Expansion
Indiana-based GovParts, a defense contractor and manufacturer, is expanding its operations in Fort Wayne, investing more than $3.4 million to move into a larger facility. The expansion, which is expected to create up to 20 new, high-wage jobs, positions the company for long-term growth in northeast Indiana and increases its ability to support the warfighter.
Founded in 2017, GovParts is part of a robust and growing defense sector in Indiana, which has marked $2.5 billion in committed capital investment since 2020 and has achieved a 24% increase in defense contracts during that same period.
Switzerland-Based Agribusiness Company Chooses Indiana
Givaudan, a global leader in Taste & Wellbeing, plans to establish a new state-of-the-art production facility in West Harrison. The Switzerland-based company will invest $215 million to construct a more than 78,000-square-foot liquids production facility in Dearborn County, creating more than 250 new jobs in the coming years.
With construction expected to begin in 2026, Givaudan joins a robust agbioscience industry in Indiana that supports more than 10,000 companies and contributes approximately $82.3 billion to the state’s economy.
Amazon Plans New Manufacturing Facility, 300 High-Wage Jobs
Amazon will invest more than $100 million to establish a new 585,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Greenwood to produce products that power the company’s fulfillment and robotics network across North America. The facility, which is expected to launch in 2028, will create 300 skilled manufacturing and engineering jobs with positions offering average salaries of nearly $100,000 annually.
Amazon has invested more than $40 billion in Indiana and created more than 27,000 Hoosier jobs since first launching operations in the state in 2008. The company selected the Greenwood site based on Indiana’s unmatched manufacturing workforce, competitive cost structure, world-class logistics infrastructure and business-friendly environment.
Entrepreneurship & Jobs Growing in Indiana’s Creative Economy
Gov. Braun designated September as Creative Economy Month in Indiana for the first time in recognition of the state’s arts and culture sector that has increased nearly 33% since 2020 and now contributes $10.1 billion annually to the Hoosier economy. The sector employs more than 92,600 Hoosiers statewide and providers workers with $6 billion in combined wages and benefits.
In September, the governor also delivered video remarks at the fourth annual Indiana Creative Economy Summit, thanking artists, entrepreneurs and industry leaders for their many contributions to the state and its communities.
Gov. Braun Strengthens Global Economy at U.S.-Japan Economic Conference
Gov. Braun and the State of Indiana hosted the 56th annual joint meeting of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association (MWJA) and the Japan-Midwest U.S. Associations conference in September, convening approximately 500 representatives of the U.S. Midwest and Japan in Indianapolis. At the event, the Governor detailed how he is supercharging Indiana’s bustling economy and business environment, the state's momentum across key industries, and opportunities for continued Japanese and U.S. investment and job creation.
The event convened representatives of local, state and federal government, academia and industry to discuss the many shared partnerships between the U.S. and Japan and to identify opportunities for shared growth across business, innovation and workforce. Indiana’s relationship with Japan has grown significantly since Subaru of Indiana Automotive broke ground in Lafayette in 1987, with the state now supporting nearly 290 Japanese business facilities that provide nearly 62,000 Hoosier jobs statewide.
Gov. Braun Highlights Economic Growth at IBJ Innovate Indiana Events in Southern, East Central Indiana
Gov. Braun addressed hundreds of local and regional leaders across government, academic and industry in Jeffersonville and Muncie in September, headlining events hosted by IBJ Media as part of its Innovate Indiana series. The governor highlighted the importance of regional-driven strategies for long-term community and economic development and congratulated the Southern Indiana and East Central Indiana regions on the momentum happening through READI and on recent economic wins that will bring new investment and new high-wage job opportunities to the regions.
